Miss Noelinnc Worthy, of Wellington, is on a holiday visit to Auckland and is the guest of Mrs. Neville Bonhani, of Upland Hoad, Bemuera. Mr. Moore, I'M?.A.M., ex.'iiiiiner for the Associated Board, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Macandrew, Titirangi. Mrs. Kliot Davis, who has been spending several years in Hnghrnd and the Continent, will return to Auckland by the Uangitane on August 2. Mrs. Trevor Thompson, Takutai Street, Parnell, will leave by ear to-day for Masterton, where sho will bo the guest of her mother, Mrs. Gawith. 31rs. Rutherford Paterson, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. I?. A. Fiulayson, Clonbern Hoad, Remucra, left bv express last evening 011 her return to Dunedin. A reading of "The Great Adventure" (Arnold Bennett) was given by the drama circle of the Overseas League last evening, under the direction of Mr. Denis Johns. Necessarily cuts had to bo made in the play, hut the performance was a thoroughly enJbyablo one, and the parts were well sustained. The, characters were taken by Mr. A. Doull, Mr. Stretton, Mr. Wiekes, Mrs. H. W. Parkinson, Miss H. B. Ariel I and Miss A. E. Buggy. The Ngataringa Tennis Club held a verv successful dance in the club pavilion on Monday evening. The room was decorated gaily with streamers and balloons. The ladies' committee comprised Miss Lund, Miss Bortrand and Miss Kindred. Among those present were: Misses Lewin. O Leary, ltaoll, Coutts, Sheehan. Hill (2), Gale, Barton, Dickie, Kmiraldi, Donaldson, Palmer and Latimer.
