THE TRANSPORT QUEEN
DANCE BY CHECKER CLUB Good ' support was accorded the Transport Queen, .Miss Adelo last evening when a dance was given for her bv the Checker Taxicab Social Club in the Auckland Amateur Oupratic Society's Hall, Grafton Koad. Formality was dispensed with when, on arrival at the hall, each guest was given a ticket bearing his or her name. These wer<* worn throughout the evening, with the result that a happy atmosphere of friendliness was created. The guest of honour, Miss Hogan, who wore a frock of Mediterranean blue crinkled crepe, was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. G. Hogan, who was in'midnight blue georgette, Miss Kae .Hogan, in white satin, and Miss M. Miller, in mastic brown georgette. Popular dance mus|c was provided by Mr. Dave O'Mnlley's orchestra and songs by Mrs. Arthur Watson were very much enjoyed. Mr. F. Drumin was the acconipanist.< The ladies on the committee were: —Miss A. Cave, who wore a frock of white flat crepe; Miss E. Ford, Erin green georgette; Miss M. Sleeman, rose pink satin; Miss Wright, Persian rose satin; Miss McKay, duchess blue satin. Among those present were:—Mrs. G. McDonald, Mrs. Postlewaite, Mrs. Woodward, Mrs. W. Nolan, Mrs. Cruickshank, Mrs. 11. Taylor, Mrs. Rmbrton, Mrs. P. Wilson, Mrs. Arthur Watson, Miss Dunn, Miss D. Wilson, Miss McGregor, Miss Sharp, Miss Fitten,- Miss Callagan. Miss M. Farrant. Miss Trvine, Miss Strong, Miss Cleaver, Miss D. Culley, Miss W. Burton, Miss Boag, Miss Kathleen Baker, Miss Nancy Baker.
