SCREWING THE SCRUM
FORWARDS MERE MACHINES Commenting on the comparatively lost art of screwing a scrum, an English Rugby football critic says that the fact is that the heeling business has been overdone for years, tho ono idea is to scrape the ball out somehow or other. Shoving is going out of fashion, and too many forwards arc mere machines. Individuality is at a discount, with tho inevitable result that thero are no great personalities in tho game to-day. A well-trained and skilful pack of forwards would sweep tho country, but seldom indeed is any attempt made 'to get -such an eight together and give them constant practico.
