MEMORIAL TO MAORIS
ONE TREE HILL PROPOSAL BORING WORK COMPLETED Boring operations on the summit of One Tree Hill to discover if there are suitable foundations for the erection of a ( memorial to the Maori people have been completed, and the results will be considered at the next meeting of ' the Campbell Park trustees. The erection of a memorial is provided for under the will of Sir John Logan Campbell, who made a bequest of £SOOO for the purpose. The work has been delayed for some years owing to engineering difficulties encounteVed, and the boring was carried out to see if the difficulties could be overcome. However, no announcement as to their success or otherwise has yet been made.
