TAXI TO A DANCE
MAORI FAILS TO PAY FARE FINE OF £3 IMPOSED A young Maori, Pori Hiko, who hired n taxi in Onehunga to take him to and from a dance at Otahuhu and failed to pay the faro of 10s, was charged in tho Onehunga Police Court yesterday with obtaining credit by falso pretences. Accused, who pleaded guilty, said that ho had been disappointed in not obtaining promised work. - Sergeant S. A. Brown said that accused had made no attempt to pay the fare and had been previously convicted for dishonesty. Tho magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKcan, lined accused £3 and ordered him to rnakq restitution, in default, six weeks imprisonment.
