REFEREES' ASSOCIATION DOMINION UNION RULINGS The following rulings from the New Zealand Rugby Union were received at last evening's meeting of tho Auckland Rugby Referees' Association:—(l) "When a player is injured and has left the field, ho can only re-enter, tho field behind a player of his own side who lastplayed the ball, or when tho ball has become dead. (2) The union has noticed with regret that, certain objectionable features, such as lato tacklos, obstruction and rough play generally seem to be creeping into the game, and asks all unions and referees to do everything in their power to stamp out these undesirable practices. It is thought that a good deal can bo dono by clubs to suppress these practices, and the Auckland Association is specially requested to see that all clubs under its jurisdiction are advised of the ICew Zealand Union's wishes in this matter. It was resolved to do everything possible to assist the New Zealand Union in the matter. The Tauranga Rugby Referees' Association wrote expressing appreciation of a lecture on the rules of tho game delivered recently in Tauranga beforo a large gathering of officinla and players by Mr. M. Kronfeld. Mesnrs. Fowler and Schnnuer were appointed managers of the Auckland referees' team to visit Helcnsvillo later in the season. Mr. W. Lonias delivered an _ instructive address on "Kicks of all kinds." He stressed the fact that many players still think the ball must be kicked over tho mark, whereas all that is necessary is that the ball must be kicked from tho line drawn through the mark parallel to the touch line, and must reach the_ line of tho original offence. Some doubt existed among players, it t was said, particularly in junior teams, as to the correct procedure when a kick at goal is being taken.
