BAZAAR AT PAPATOETOE A highly successful bazaar and sale of work organised by tho Papatoetoe branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Papatoetoe Town Hall on Saturday afternoon. Considerable interest was manifested in the competitions for school children in handwriting and drawing, and over 80 entries were received prior to tho opening, which was officially conducted by Mrs. W. W. Masscv. The programme and activities wore directed by the branch committee, comprising Mrs. J. Ivondal (president), Mrs. E. Bray (secretary), Mrs. R. Kimpton (treasurer), Mrs. ,T. J. Valentine, Mrs. A. G. Grinter, Mrs. H. C. Ernest, Mrs. 11. G. Ross, Mrs. D. Wily, Mrs. J. Snow and Mrs. T. Richards. There was a large attendance of visitors during tho afternoon and evening, and a considerable sum is assured as tho result of the effort. Among tho visitors from the city was Lady Sinclair-Lock-hart, president of the Auckland Society, A baby show was held in tho afternoon and there were over .30 babies entered for tho three classes. The judging was carried out by Dr. J. Purchas, of Paninure. Tho results were: —Baby under six months, Barbara Clark; under 12 months, Alan Burgess; under 18 months, Joan Carter. The school competitions, which were judged by Mr. and Mrs. Haughey, of Takanini, resulted as follows: —Handwriting, Barbara Kirkbride, 1; M. Irving, 2. Drawing, 1; D. Valsey, 2. A special stall was arranged by the Papatoetoe Horticultural Society, and much interest was taken in a cookery exhibition.
