TAKANINI TRACK NEWS ARCH RULER'S PROGRESS ] TRUE BLOOD FOR GISBORNE j Very little fast work was accomplished at Takanini on Saturday, when the middlo grass was available. Arch Ruler, who ran three furlongs in 41s, was tho only horse to be extended. He is now hardening in condition and should be ready to race at thy Ellerslie meeting next month. True Blood, who fenced well when schooled during the week, is likely to bo leased by W. Goscomb, and this trainer may also tako over Kind Word 3. He will probably give Blood some schooling at Ellerslie, and then go to Uisborne for the winter meeting. When tho trip is' made Diversion, a member of P. E. Pope's team, may alsq be sent to Gisborno in GoßComb's charge. Tho Paper Money—Killena colt is tho only activo worker in J. L. Gray's team at present. He was out trotting on Saturday and appears to be settling: down nicely. The speedy two-year-old Rereatu was, gelded last week and he is at present on tho easy list. Ho will be taken up again before long and started on his preparation j for spring racing. Tho Pantheon filly Eldora is now under | J. L. Gray's chargo but so far she has dono only easy exerciso on the roadß. She will resume regular work shortly, probably at tho beginning of next month. W. C. Woods, who is now quartered at Takanini, i 9 working Tondaleyo and a threo-year-old filly by Kilbroney—Miss Melva, who is rather small for one of her age. Tondaleyo's condition was greatly improved by her racing in the late autumn, and she may be equal to showing up better when next called upon to race. <• , ■ L. M. Manson is now able 1 to, attend the track and he is again attending to the work of Cherry King and Tavern Knight. Neither is being overtaxed but both have a healihy appearance and there is plenty of time yet to prepare them for three-year-old racing. W. Patterson gave Gastronomy a turn over tho hurdles during the week and Big Bertha's relative performed satisfactorily. He is being qualified with the Pakuranga Hounds for hunters' events later in the winter. He has made a lot of improvement in condition since joining Patterson's tetnn. Sir Willonyx, who showed speed in ft hack race at Ellerslie, has not since been overtaxed. He has just resumed work after a course of physic but is not being asked to do much. Bronze Eagle was in physio at tho weekend and so was not asked to do his usual work. He looks really well and is apparently going on as well as his admirers could wish. It may not be long before the trip to Australia is undertaken. J. Cruse is now allotting Alignment regular work and the brother to Croupier is hitting out nicely although he has not yet been asked to go fast. He is a heavilytopped colt who will have to be treated carefully, but he looks the part of a good ono if he remains sound. The jumper Regardez has been out qualifying with the Pakuranga Hunt and he will be eligible for hunters' events when they come along. In the past Regardez has been deficient in stamina, and it will be interesting to see if his hunting experience has improved him in this respect.. RISING TWO-YEAR-OLD SOLD SON OF SILVER LINK The fine-looking rising two-year-old colt Whenuakura. by Chief Ruler from Silver Link, has been purchased from his breeder, Mr. A. Alexander, of New Plymouth, by Mr. W. Kirklund, of Foxton, owner of Tenacre. Whenuakura, who is a full-brother to Chief Link and a half brother to Silvermine, hns a good disposition, and is confidently expected to turn out well.
