MISSIONARY WORK
THE CHRISTIAN MOTIVE
A sermon on the Christian and the missionary motive was given by the Rev. J. Kaye last evening at the Beresford Street Congregational Church. Mr. Kayo, who is chairman of the London Missionary Society's committee controlling the Southern Pacific, arrived in Auckland last week in tho course of a tour of inspection of the work of tho society. The motive behind missionary enterprise was outlined by Mr. Kaye, who stated that this was not dependent upon economic or political, argument. The wido sweep of the Christian motive was tho motive for tho missionary. "The love of Christ motives us even toward the most degraded," the preacher said. "There is no motive more forceful and effective than this one. When tho world adopts the motive of the love of Christ a great many of the international and industrial problems will take wings."
