DRIVER OF ONE INJURED ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL [by telegraph-—OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Saturday "While proceeding to the Galatea Estate to pay the relief road workers, an employee of the Wliakatanc County Council, Mr. .7. Miles, received severe injuries when the lorry he was driving came into collision with another lorry heavily-laden with fencing posts. The road where the collision occurred was too narrow to allow the vehicles to pass. The eoaeh-work of the truck Mr. Miles was driving was crushed back by the impact, and Mr. Miles was knocked unconscious. He received severe cuts and bruises to the face and body, and was conveyed to the Whakatane Hospital. His condition is reported to be satisfactory. VEHICLES MEET HEAD-ON MISHAP AT A BKND [from our own correspondent 1 TE AWAMUTU, Saturday A head-;!!, collision between two motor vehicles occurred on the Great South Road between Te Awamutu and Kihikihi to-day. A liglit delivery van driven by Mr. E. I). Williams, ,\hen proceeding round the bend at McGovern's Hill, collided with a lorry belonging to tho Tokanui Mental Hospital. Both .vehicles were damaged extensively, hut tho drivers escaped with a shaking and bruises.
