CAUGHT IN BLIZZARD

PARTY OF SCHOOLGIRLS VERY SEVERE ORDEAL Mr. A. G. Lowndes, who was in charge of a large party of schoolgirls and schoolboys which recently spent eight days at Kosciusko, New South Wales, said that during a journey from the chalet to the hotel at Kosciusko the party was caught in a blizzard. Five of the girls collapsed, and had to be sent back to the chalet with a guide. The skis became cumbersome, and had to be thrown away. After a difficult struggle against the blizzard the party managed to reach a refuge hut. There they had to remain during the night, and when the weather cleared next day they reached the hotel safely. During their struggles through the gale the girls were almost frozen, and their plaited hair was frozen stiff.
