ADMINISTRATION POLICY CO-ORDINATION OF WORK SOUTH ISLAND RESOLUTION' [by rr.i.EGP.Arn —press association] DUNEMN, Thursday The administration of the dairy industry in its relation to the quality of the Dominion's produce was the subject ol a lengthy discussion at the annual conference of the South .Island Dairy Association to-day. Discussion was opened by the chairman, Mr. H. J. Middliito'n (Invercargill), who moved the adoption of the following remit: "This conference, being firmly convinced of the necessity j'or thi administration of affairs of tho dairy industry to be placed entirely m :,he Lands of the industry itself, strongly urges the Government to \ransf"r to the Dairy Produce Board :he n andatory powers at present invested in the dairy division." The :notion was seconded by Mr. H. H. Meredith (Waimate). Mr. F. H. Anderson (Cambridge) claimed that the industry must be rcorgan sed in order that the highest itate of efficiency could be reached. Mr. Anderson's proposals were contained in a comprehensive remit, which he will submit at the annual conference of the National Dairy Association. Mr. Waito said he intended to move a further amendment, "That it be a recommendation to the Dairy Produce Board and directors of the dairy division that they take all necessary steps to work in the closest co-ordination for tho benefit of the industry." Sanction was given to the withdrawal of a minute by the executive and tae chairman then moved that Mr. Anderson's proposals be adopted. After further discussion Mr. Waite's amendment was carried by 42 votes to 19. The motion relating to Mr. Anderson's proposals was defeated on tho voice!, and Mr. Waite's amendjnent was adopted.
