AUCKLANDER'S SUCCESS

News has been received that Miss Dorothy Davies, daughter of Mr. David Davies, of Auckland, who has been in London for the past two years, has obtained tho A.R.C.M.,. at the Royal College of Music, winning third place in the list of candidates from all over England. Before leaving for London she studied with tho New Zealand pianist and teacher Mr. Frank Hutchens, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she hold " The Yvonno Charvin Prize." At tho completion of her studies there, Miss Davies took up a post as pianisto for the Radio Broadcasting Company, in Wellington, and was also music librarian at the headquarters of tho Radio Broadcasting Company at Christchurch. She has studied with Mr. Arthur Alexander and is now making a special study of accompanying (for which she has a rare gift) in addition to her study of teaching.
