RAILWAY TO WHARF
CONDITION OF BRIDGE POSITION AT KIOREROA [from our own correspondent], WHANGAREI, Saturday The district engineer of railways, Auckland, has informed the Whangarei. Harbour Board that the department has decided definitely to close the Kioreroa railway bridge to further traffic after June 30. This is the outcome of correspondence between the department and th-3 Harbour Board. The department notified the board on Ap.il that it was prepared to supply the material and supervise the work of repairs to sidings, lowering the track to wUarf level, and provide the crossover ior £l9O provided the Harbour Board supplied other labour. The district engineer informed the board on May ]0 that in view of the unsafe condition oi the Kioreroa Bridge the matter of the sidings to * the new wharf required to be finalised at an early date. r The matter came up for consideration at yesterday's meeting of the Harbour Board. It was decided that the board endeavour to get the chief engineer of railways on the ground with the object of making final arrangements for railway connection between the line and the wharf.
