The going was in splendid order and times wero fast. Heather Glow reeled off six furlongs in 1.15 1-5. This smart galloper is due for a win shortly. Cricket Bat strode over seven furlongs in his usual free style in 1.31 4-5, the last three furlongs in 38 3-ss. Zecbrugge covered the same journey in 1.28 3-5, tho last halfmile in 51s. Dovian accompanied liim over the last five. Royal Sccptro recordod 1.1 4-5 for five furlongs, the last three taking 375. A. E. Ellis will ride him at Wingatui. Don Jose and Fleeting Glance finished together well clear of Rossferry at the end of" six furlongs run in 1.15 3-5, the last three in 3'Js. Shamata arid Silver Sight ran five furlongs iu 1.4. Tho former will race at Dunedin on the second day and Silver Sight will go to Greywouth. Tea Garden strode over five furlongs in 1.3 2-5. Ho injured his jaw when lie fell at Ashburton and may not go south. Polydora and Rational 11. were eqnt from the six-furlong post. They kept toother for five furlongs, but Polydora then forged ahead and beat her mate by three lengths in 1.15 2-5, the last three furlongs in 38s.
