OBITUARY
MR. J. C. JOHNSTON Recognised as one of the leading farmers in the Bangitikei district, and a member for over years of the j\l!Uton Joekev Club, Mr. J. C. Johnston died at Marton last week, at the age of 78. He was the eldest son ot the late Captain James Johnston. He was born at sea on a sailing ship within a fortnight of, reaching Wellington. His parents left Dnmfrieshire, Scotland, to trv their fortunes in New Zealand, and settled in Marton at Bellevue, Bonny Glen, where practically the whole 01 their lifetime was spent. Mr. Johnston took up farming at Hunterville and later at Marton. At the recent jubilee nt Marton he was the oldest resident to take part in the celebrations.
