WINTER RACING

besults at te rapa SOME EXCITING FINISHES STEEPLES TO WILTSHIRE pBOLYXO'S NARROW WIN The annual meeting of tlio Te Kuiti Racing Club was concluded at Te Rapa yesterday in dull but fine weathor. jhe attendance was not as large as on Saturday, but the totalisator turnover kept, up remarkably well, the machine handling £14,1G9 10s. The total for the two days was £28,870 10s, rompared with ift 0,742 10s at last year's meeting at To Kuiti, and £32,852 10s at the Waikato Racing Club's summer meeting two months ago. The principal event, tho Kawhia Steeplechase, resulted in a victory for the veteran Wiltshire, who paid tho only double figures win dividend, although that of Tatyoon, in the last race, was very little short. Tho place return of Sweet Whisper for third in the Hangatiki Hack Handicap was actually the largest dividend of the day, approaching a score. There were several exciting finishes. In the "Waitomo Handicap Prolyxo defeated Speedmint by a neck, in tho pio Pio Hurdles High 'Commissioner prevailed over Biform by only half a head, and in tho Hangatiki Hack Handicap necks separated Sinking Fund, Puss Moth and Sweet Whisper.
