THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE AUSTRALIAN ISSUES SOUGHT Renewed inquiry for Australian industrial* was a feature of the investment niarket on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Support for Government securities was unchanged. The 1938-52 3\ per cent stock was released JJs 6d lower at £<>o 12s 6d, and there was a sale in 10-10 4 per cent stock unchanged at £IOO 10s. Auckland Harbour Board, 1937, oi per cent, debentures gained 30s on sale at £IOO 10s lifter an interval of two months. Operations in banks and insurance were extended, although business was confined to sales in Bank of New Zealands Id lower at 45s lOd and subsequently at 45s 9d and 45s Sd, when levels e/iscd. Buyers of New South [Wales advanced their limits by 5s to £29 15s, drawing a. seller at £3O 10s. After a long silence, holders of Unions appeared at £B, inquiry at £7 lis being steady. For New Zealand Insurance, buyers again operated, naming 48s 9d. Quotations at 49s 6d were unchanged. In the general sections Renown Collieries, ! preference, were secured 3d lower at 6d. Devonport Ferry gained 6d on sale at 20s and Northern Steams Tvere taken unchanged at Gs Gd. Demand for Australian Glass was strong and a parcel changed hands Is 9d higher at 4Ss. Levels in Colonial Sugars moved forward, offers at £55 15s being £1 higher and quotations at £56 10s registering a rise of 15s. New Zealand Newspapers again sold at 25s 6d. Early business in Wilsons Cements was completed 9d higher at 31s Od, after whicii the prico shaded to 31s 6d coincident ;with an easing in the demand. Support for the leading mining shares was a shade weaker, the movement being reflected in lower offers for "Waihis and Mount Lyells. Holders of the last-named were inclined to follow the market down, but quotations for "Waihis were on a higher basis. Nokomais changed hands 3d lower at os 3d and later at 5s 2d.
