UNIVERSITY COLLEGE SITE
Sir, —In your interesting account of the founding of the Auckland University Collego and its subsequent development, many will be surprised to find 110 mention of the name of Mr. G. L. Peacocke, who was for many years a prominent member of the College Council and for a considerable time its actingchairman. In the famous "battle of the sites," Mr. Peacocke took a very active part, and his enthusiasm in the matter and representations to Government were largely responsible for obtaining the present site. Mr. Peacocko is living in retirement now at Papatoetoe, but still takes a very keen interest in educational matters and the growth and development of the collego, and it seems only fair that his work as a pioneer in the movement should bo recognised. G. E. Cluett.
