CHARGE OF EXPLOSIVES

ATTEMPT ON STRONGROOM FEILDING DRAPERY STORE [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] FEILDING, "Wednesday During last night the drapery premises of John Cobbe and Co., Ltd., were entered by burglars, who attempted to blow open the strongroom door with explosives. Entry to the premises was gained through an upstairs window. A-charge of explosive was inserted in the lock of the strongroom door sufficient to damage the lock, but the mechanism withstood the efforts of the intruders to open the door. Apparently the contents of the safe were the sole objective, for no stock was taken. The effect of the explosives was such that the door could not be opened by ordinary means, and the services of an expert had to be obtained to gain accesg to the strongroom.
