SOME SHOWERS LIKELU GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows,:—The northern cyclone has now disappeared. The second portion of a rather deep westerly depression is passing in the south, while an intense anti-cyclone covers Australia and is moving eastward. Indications are for moderate to strong west to south-west winds. Seas moderate on the east coast j elsewhere rather rough to rough, with a heavy south-westerly swell. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong but decreasing south-west-erly winds; seas rough, but moderating. Weather: showers in districts with westerly aspect, more especially from Kawhia southward; also in the far south; improving gradually, however, and elsewhere fiue. * EASTER WEATHER Auckland. —There was a continuation of fine weather during the past two days. A moderate breeze was blowing from the north-east on Thursday and from the south-west yesterday. After falling to 29.65 in. on Thursday evening the barometer had risen .2oin. by last night. Barometer, midnight, rising . . 28.90 in. Midnight, Thursday . . ... 29,70 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 72deg.; minimum, 65deg. The barometer was low, but had a tendency to rise in the evening. Dunedin —Exceptionally warm weather prevailed on Thursday and the thermometer registered 74 degrees. The day was fine but cloudy and a light west wind was blowing. Yesterday morning was fine and mild, but the afternoon was showery with a south-, tfest wind. The barometer was steady at 29.51 in.
