ON THE GOLDFIELDS
One of the most courageous of women is Mrs. Kathleen Simon, known erstwhile as the Florence Nightingale of the goldfields—for in the capacity of nurse she went to Coolgardie—the first whito women to venture there. When typhoid broke out Mrs. Simon, thon Kathleen Fysh, a girl of 20 with some slight nursing knowledge, decided to go to the goldfields and to establish the nucleus of a hospital. After a most arduous journey she reached her destination, and with tho doctor's assistance rigged up a tent hospital where men of all colours and nationalities were nursed by the brave young woman.
