BETTY BATTERSBY
COLOUR AND FASHION DESIGNER How many of tho millions of women who will soon be buying the next season's clothes realise that the prevailing colours from which they will have to choose are due in no small measure to the wonderful colour sense of a 24-year-old London girl ? The girl is Miss Betty Battcrsby, the colour and fashion stylist, who works in conjunction with Mr. Wilson, of the British Colour Council. Those in a position to judge say that Miss Battcrsby is one of tho cleverest creative artists in the country, not only in fashion designing, but also in colour selection. In order to make correct colour forecasts sho has to keep her finger on the pulse of tho whole world of fashion. She has to bo conversant'with the movements of all the famous dress designers as well as tho acknowledged leaders of fashion. Miss Battersby's assistance in passing judgment and her power of forecast are called upon at least 12 months ahead of the fashion seasons. Sho was recently busy making her selections for the spring of 1931. She is frequently consulted by manufacturers of domestic utensils, who have also realised the importance of colour in tho home. Even kitchen pots and pans must have their " colour appeal " nowadays.
