TOTALISATOR INCREASE F. J. SMITH WINS DOUBLE TWO WINS FOR TE MAHANGA The sequence of increases in totalisator turnover was maintained at the Te Aroha Trotting Club's annual meeting on Saturday. Investments totalled £IO,BIO, compared with £89122 10s last year, an increase of £1917 10s, or 21 per cent. The attendance was estimated at 4000. The track was in fine order. The successful trainer F. J. Smith won the double, the Trotting Club Handicap and the Farewell Handicap, with Pcgaway and Kewpie's Guy. These wins place him at the head of the New Zealand drivers' list for the season with a total of 22, while in the trainers' section, with 23 wins, ho is second only to C. S. Donald, 2G. Te Mahanga won two races, the Waitoa and Ruakaka Handicaps. There were three double-figures dividends, returned by Pukerniro for a win in the Manawaru Handicap and Home Brew and Ecy de Quest for places in the Ruakaka and Hot Springs Handicaps respectively.
