PLEURISY

The condition known as pleurisy occurs when the two opposing surfaces of the covering surrounding the lung and the inside of tho chest wall become inflamed. This causes acute pain in the chest, which is more severe on deep breathing or coughing. Medical advice should always bo obtained, but much can bo done at homo to lessen the pain. Ono of the best methods is to limit tho movement of tho chest.

This is done by strapping the chest with ordinary sticking plaster as broad as possible. Begin with a strip stretching from a littlo to ono side of tho spinal column —the good side —passing over tho painful area and ending just over, the centre of the breast-bone..
