THEFT FROM OFFICE

SUM OF £42 TAKEN TE KUITI PREMISES ENTERED [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] TE KUITI, Monday The premises of the Aard service car office in liora Street were broken into last evening and the sum of £42 in notes was removed from the safe. The theft took place in the early evening, and it would appear that the movements of the staff had been carefully watched during an interval of about 15 minutes when no one was in the office that the theft was committed. The back door was afterwards found wide open and the safe had been moved from its usual place. The thieves, evidently thinking the safe was locked, pulled it out of position, apparently with the intention of removing it. They must have then discovered that it was unlocked. It is only three days since an unsuccessful attempt was made to break-into the Self-Help Co-operative stores, which are only two doors away.
