CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
TAKAPUNA GUN CLUB A large number of members and visitors attended the usual fortnightly clay-bird shoot of the Takapuna Gun Club at Barry's Point on Saturday. The weather was clear and calm and somo excellent shooting was performed during the afternoon. Results are as follows: Seven Birds' Eye-opener Sweep.—R. H. Bartley (14yds), Kay-Stratton (14yds), and \V. R. Ayton (14yds), all shot the possible of seven birds and divided the sweep money. J. McGregor (14yds; and R. S. Mowbray (12yds) tied for second place with six birds each. The next best scores were ,T. Miller (13yds) and J. Rees-George (15yds), who shot five birds each. Chief Handicap Match (15 birds), for W. E. Grant's trophy.—J. Miller (13yds) shot 14 birds and won outright. R. 11. Bartley (15yds) was runner-up with 13 birds. KayStratton (14yds) and R. S. Mowbray (12yds) tied for third place with 12 breaks. The next best scores were J. Rees-Geoi'ge (15yds), AV. R. Ayton (14yds) and M. H. Tisdall (13yds), with 11 breaks each. Seven Birds' Gimcrack Sweep.—J. ReesGeorge (13-lOyds), Kay-Stratton (12-18 yds) and R. S. Mowbray (11-17 yds) nil shot the possible of seven birds. In the shoot-off (first miss out) J. Bees-George missed hia eighth bird and Mowbray missed his ninth, Kay-Stratton getting his ninth bird of[ 20yds and taking the sweep money. The next best scores were R. H. Bartley (13-18 yds) and M. H. Tisdall (11-lCyds) with six breaks each, and L. J. Henderson (12-lGyds) with fivo breaks. * Seven Birds' Handicap Sweep (gun below elbow).—J. Rees-George (15yds) and TjJ. Henderson (14yds) shot six birds each and divided the sweep money. Tho next best scores were M. H. Tisdall (13yds), with five breaks, and R. H. Bartley (15yds), with four breaks. Tho executive has decided to cancel the next shoot in favour of the Metropolitan Gun Club, which is staging the teams match for the R. T. Reed's Cup at its grounds on April 22. The Takapuna Gun Club will be represented. HAMILTON CLUB'S OPENING [froM: oun own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday The Hamilton Gun Club held its opening shoot at on Saturday in excellent weather. /There was a large attendance. The president Mr. W. ,T Aitkeir, welcomed the visitor 3 and Mr. F. R. Seddon, a life member, fired tho first shot. The results were:— Eye-opener, seven birds.—M. Pratt. A. Malcolm, C. Seddon. T. Glenn, E. Bojpn. and A. Aitken shot the possible and divided the stake. There were 16 entries. C. Seddon Trophy, 12 birds.—M. Pratt, A. Malcolm, C. Seddon, T. Glenn. E. Bogun. A. Aitken and \V. ,T Aitken ehot the possible. Pratt and Aitken fired ■34 shots before Pratt missed. Aitken winniwr. \ Brxjinners' Shoot), six birds. —R. Elmsley. 1. There were eight entrien. American Shoot. 10 birds.—M. Pratt. A. Woolven, AV, Cribble, N. Saunders. E. Boemn. and T. James shot the possible and divided tho prize. Gimcrack, seven birds.—G. H. Chesterman, H. Enrle. J. Malcolm, and N. Saunders shot nil seven birds and divided.
