MAIN TRUNK TRAINS
SERVICE STILL DISORGANISED RESTORATION OF THE LINE Tho restoration of the section of the Main Trunk railway in tho vicinity of Taumarunui, which was damaged during tho severe storm a week ago, is progressing steadily. Heavy engines aro still unable to pass over tho weakened parts of tho track, however, and light engines are being used to haul the carriages of the express trains for several miles. This process is necessarily slow and delays are inevitable. Yesterday the limited express from ton arrived at 11.58 a.m., instead of 9.40 a.m., and the ordinary express completed its journey at 7.24 a.m., or 46 minutes behind schedule time. It is anticipated that within two or three days normal conditions will again prevail.
