BELL-HOOPER CONTRACT Thti directors of the Bell-Hooper Cromwell Company have let a contract for driving a 300 ft. tunnel 520 ft. further down the river frontage from tho tunnel driven by 801 l and Hooper. More than 20 men will be employed in the work. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Golden Dawn (Owharoa). —During the fortnight ended March 25, on No. 3 level on tho drive north on No.. 3 reef, no work has been done, the drive being stopped for tho present so as to carry along a leading stopo over the level a length of 110 ft. from the north end of north stopes. This work will be completed by the end of next week, when driving on the reef will again bo started. On No. 2 level drive north on No. 3 reef from crosscut east lias been driven 6ft., total 39ft. Tho reef here is still split into small leaders and the country is hard. On No. 3 level stoping has been carried ou with machines working three' shifts in two blocks on No. 1 reef. The reef here averages 2ft. 6in. wide and the ore broken is of very fair value. Stoping has also been similarly carried on on No. 3 reef. The reef here averages 2ft. wide and ore-broken is of very good value. The leading stope on No. 3 reef fxom the end of north stopes has 'been carried 90ftAnother 20ft. will complete this stope and that will give another 110 ft. of a block for stoping. The reef here averages 2ft. 6in. wide and the ore is of rood value. On No. 2 level stoping has been carried on an one block on No. 1 reef. The reef averages 2ft. wide and Jhe ore is of fair value.
