STREET DAY REFUSED
WELLINGTON EX-SOLDIERS INDIGNATION EXPRESSED PROTEST TO CITY COUNCIL [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The refusal of the City Council to grant the association a street day on a Friday was criticised at a meeting of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association this evening. It was decided that the association express its indignation and request the council to reconsider its decision in the interests of returned men, who were now a serious responsibility to the association. The Rev. W. Bramwell Scott said no doubt there was a spirit abroad that everything about the war should be forgotten, but what about the men ? He was one of those who went up and down the country recruiting at the time of the war, making definite promises to men that when they returned they would be looked after. It was on this promise that many men enlisted.
