TWO NOTABLE BEQUESTS gift to grammar school AUCKLAND RESIDENT'S WILL Two largo bequests, ono to the Auckland Grammar School and tho other to the Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, have been made by the late Miss Janet Elizabeth Murray, of Carlton Gore Road, who died on February 27. Her estate has been sworn for probate at £BOOO. The estate is left to Miss Murray's two sisters, during their lifetime, and on their demise the residue of the estate shall bo held in trust. The sum of £4OOO will then bo paid to tho Massoy Agricultural College, to bo held in trust to enable scholarships to bo provided. The income is to ho used for the promotion and encouragement of agriculture, and after tho expenses of maintaining the trust fund have been met tho entire residuo of tho income is to bo devoted to a scholarship or scholarships to bo called tho Murray Scholarships in memory of Miss Murray s father, Mr. Benjamin Moore Murray, and her mother, Mrs. Jano Murray. After tho bequest to the Massey College has been made, tho remainder of tho estate is to go on similar terms to the Auckland Grammar School, to ho held in trust by tho governing body. Tho incoino is to be applied toward tho encouragement of secondary education, and a scholarship known as tho Donald Norman Murray Scholarship is to be provided from tho funds available. Dr. D. N. W. Murray is a brother of the late Miss Murray. Tho conditions of the scholarships aro left to thn Grammar School Board to decide.
