WAIKATO WINTER SHOW

MANY NEW COMPETITIONS MODEL ENGINEERING CLASSES [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday Year by year the Wnikato Winter Show becomes more comprehensive. New competitions to be introduced at the next show include classes for model engines, model power-boats, model aeroplanes and woollen articles, including those made from home-spun wool. The New Zealand Model Aeroplane Association lias indicated that there will be about 100 entries in its class from members of the association. The section for model engines, both steam and electrical, is being supported by the Waikato Society of Model and Experimental Engineers and large entries are assured. In order to test the model powerboats a large steel tank will be constructed. A feature of the entries already received this year is the interest taken in the show by firms in distant centres. This will strengthen the industrial side of the exhibition, which is continually expanding. Indications point to a record display of butter and cheese. Other sections of the exhibition in which keen interest is being taken are the classes for gardening, music, elocution, art work and photography.
