Angie is hitting out with more freedom in his work than previously and looks improved. Karangapai and Golden Spahi dashed over half a mile in 50s. Karangapai was going better than his companion at the end. but Golden Spain's eilort was good for a noyice. Manawhenua and Tetrarchate covered five furlongs nicely in 1.3 3-5. Both horses are thriving well and Manawhenua should be very fit by the time the autumn meeting is at hand.

Tahae Mea reeled off half a mile in 50 l-ss. going well throughout. Tnhae Mea is full of muscle and should have good prospects of opening his winning account shortly. Notamint, who received the worst of the jump-off, was on terms with tho Lucullus— Country Air filly, with "Wee Musk several lengths back, at the conclusion of half a mile in 51 l-ss. Darma also worked over half a mile nnd recorded 54 2-ss. Neil wijs timed to cover a round in 1.55 '2-5, the last six furlongs in 1.26 1-5. He is in good health, but does his work lazily. Kiltowyn and United, after running the first three in 38s, finished up six furlongs in 1.17. Both went in good fctyle and it wns a nice piece of work. Kiltowyn and United should both be Ln good nick for the autumn meetings.

TE RAPA HORSES CANDIDATES FOR TAURANGA KING FORD'S GOOD EFFORT INJURY TO BEAU IRISH [froji our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday The course proper, with tho flags 20ft. out, was available for fast work at Te Rapa this morning, when several candidates with engagements at the Bay of Plenty meeting were given work. Horses with no immediate engagements ahead were restricted to easy pace work on the inside grass and plough tracks. Tho morning's best effort was that of Kins Ford, who was allotted a pleasing six-furlong trial.

The Pullet (Heka) was in front of Ivabau (T. Green) over an easy six furlongs in 1.19. The pace was on for the earlier part, but Kahau was pulling up at the finish. The initial three furlongs were clocked at 39s and tbe five furlongs at 1.4. Kahau is in great heart at present and, while he is entered for threo events at the Tauranga gathering, there is every likelihood that J. F. Tutchen'a charge will bo reserved for the President's Hack Handicap, in which event he should givo a true account of himself. Ho will have the services of the local horseman T. Green in whichever event ho is started.

Tho Pullet has been putting in a useful preparation and should soon bo ready to claim a stako whero the company is of a moderate order. She also claims a dual engagement on Saturday, and will probably start in the six-lurlong hack event. High Commissioner (i. Green) strode freely over a round with ltoyal Visitor (I\. Mediae J, tho latter being in front at the finish. The task oucup.ecl 3-5 and neither was extended ut any stage. ■ High Commissioner is bearing tho evidence or his recent careful preparation will have his next start over liurdles at Stratford next month. „ , ~ King Ford (G. Connor) went oft from the six-furlong post to como homo strongly in 1.17. It was a pleasing effort and one indicative of an improved showing at Tauranga on Saturday. King Ford, who will have the services of G. Connor ,at the meeting, looks the picture of health at present, and it will not be on the score of condition if he fails to produce on Saturday tho piomise he has evinced in liis recent preparation ilo appears to be a horse of moods, however, and has proved somewhat of a disappointment on the race track. Ruby Meteor was sent over a couple ot fences on the steeplechase course. He baulked at the brush fence the first time, but negotiated the obstacle safely on the second occasion. A. P. Brady s charge will need a little further experience before hopes can bo entertained for her prospects in tins is building up well for Ellerslie jumping engagements and with Ciuachan was exercised over a round on tho inside grass thia morning. Trowbridge was also restricted to easy exercise work. Irowbridge. Cruachan and VVilton will probably have their next outings at tho Auckland Easter gathering. , , Beau Irish was an absentee from tne tracks owing to an injured stifle.
