TAKANINI TRACK NEWS FOULWIND'S SIX FURLONGS The insido grass was open for fast work at Takanlni yesterday, but. in spite of excellent conditions, there was not a great deal of galloping. Tatyoon (Clifford) strode over five furlongs, but was not timed. He is looking bright and well and may be raced again at the Whangarei meeting. Owing to his uncertainty at the barrier Tatyoon is not likely to bo backed as confidently as on previous occasions Cherry King (Manson) and Substation (Walters) were both going easily at tho end of half a mile in 52 l-ss. Cherry King is none the worse for his racing at Paeroa and he should make headway from now on. Substation was placed in her last outing at To Rapa and she may be troublesome in the next maiden race she contests. Tiny Star (R. Hall) was going slighllv better than Arrnutum (Grice) at the end of half a mile in 49 4-si„ a useful effort for maidens. Armutum shaped the better of the pair at Pukekohe. but Tiny Star is tho speedier on the tracks. Both may make their next appearance at Whangarei. Foulwind (Mclnally) ran six furlongs in 1.17 4-5. This mare's recent form has been moderate, but she is in good heart and may make a be.tter showing at Tauranga. Spcedmint, who has been on the easy list since tho Rotorua meeting, has done really well during her spell. She is again doins light exercise preparatory to joining Pope's regular team at tho end of the month and is carrying a lot more flesh than when sho went oif the acene. She may not take lons to return lo form when the tracks become easier _ . Bronze Eagle is striding along in his pace work in very encouraging style. A. Rhodes is hopeful of him standing up to another preparation. , Hannibal (R. Hall) hit out freely while running six furlongs in 1.17 4-5. He acpears to have quite recovered from his fall at Te Rapa and he should make progress from now on. J. G. Farrill had tho Valkyrian—Colosseum and Valkyrian—Bellacity fillies out at exercise and both have settled down nicely. The filly from Colosßeum is remarkably sturdy, while the Bellacity filly is a leaner type, who resembles her dam considerably. She is a full-sister to the speedy Vallar. Full Measure continues to make steady progress and is gradually becoming free of the soreness that recently troubled him. He hit out with much more freedom while working at a useful pace yesterday and it moy not be long before he is ready to race again, i
