ACCESS TO STATE SCHOOLS
WELLINGTON DISCUSSION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The Wellington Education Board discussed the question of the right of individuals to enter the State schools for the purpose of disseminating propaganda, the executive committee having recommended that the Rev. C. Wickham be informed that the board was prepared, subject to the approval of the school committee and head teacher concerned, to permit him to enter the schools after school hours for the purpose of lecturing on the scientific aspects of alcohol. The question was raised whether the board was changing its attitude. The chairman declared that the poljcy of the board was the Ham* as it always had been. Each application would be considered on its merits. The board could not give the right of entry. It might, approve but entry depended upon the consent of the headmaster and the school committee.
Mr. Wickham's application was left to the discretion of the school committee and the head teacher.
