GREAT SOUTH ROAD

TAR-SEALING AT MERCER PRELIMINARY WORK STARTED Preliminary work in connection -with the tar-sealing of tho surface o£ the Great South Road at Mercer and south of the township is in hand, and the sides of the road are being built up with clay. The Auckland Automobile Association i» placing temporary signs to warn motorists to reduce speed. It is understood that the highway from the Mercer railway station to the Whangamarino Bridge is to be sealed, thus adding another length to the anticipated permanently surfaced road from Auckland to Hamilton.
