HOWICK HIGHWAY
SECTION THROUGH PANMIJRE NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT The unsatisfactory state of n section of the. Howick highway running through the Fanmure Town Board's district has been the subject of many complaints during the past few months. The Auckland Automobile Association has made representations to the Main Highways Board and to tho Town Board about the condition of the road. On making further inquiries yesterday, the association was advised that a grader was being obtained from an adjacent local body. As the grader would.,be available in a few days' time it was hoped to restore the road surface to a reasonable condition. Proposals for the permanent surfacing of the road have been made to the Main Highways Board, and it is understood they will be considered at the board's meeting on February 15. In the meantime, the association has requested the Local Government- Loans Board to expedite the Town Board's application for permission to raise, a loan. It is anticipated that repair work will be carried out. on tho road during next. week.
