PLATE TO BROKEN RULE EAGER ROSE'S VICTORY rAGANELLI WINS AGAIN The summer meeting of the Takapuna JTockcv Club was concluded yesterday under fine weather conditions, which were tempered by a fine breeze. The attendance was good, but not as large as had been anticipated. The totalizator handled £22.866 15s, compared with £21.535 on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £1331 15s. The total investments for the meeting were £'15,229 15s, against J'51.611 15s last year, a decrease of £8382,

or 16 per cent. The only first favourite to win was Paganelli in the last race, the Anniversary Handicap. Second favourites also scored three wins and one dead-heat for first, and third favourites two wins and one idead-heat for first, while the other winner was fifth favourite. Foulwind and Toplight were still together in the lead crossing the top, with Roman Mascot and Diversion together next, and then Directory. Pelting and Arawa Rose. Foulwind and Toplight were just in front entering the Ftraight, closely followed by Roman Mascot, Diversion and Pelting. Foulwind was in rharge halfwiy down the straight, but Roman Mascot finished well and beat her By half a length. Arawa Rose was a neck .-uvay third and Pelting was fourth. Next to finish were Monanui. The start was fairly even, except that Faeanelii, on the extreme outside, was not finite in line when the tapes were released and received the worst of it. Whakapara and Hampton Park were smartest to begin, but when the field had settled down Miss Lorraine and Hampton Park were the leaders, closely attended by "Whakapara and Tetrarchaie, with Exaggeration, Hoihoma. Lucidus ,nnd Paganelli following. Hampton Park drew out slightly rounding the homo turn and led into the straight just clear of Exaggeration, "Whakapara, Lucidus and Tetrarchatc, y.'ho were bunched. Hampton Park more than held his own in the run home and won easily by two lengths from Exaggeration. who beat Paganelli by three-parts of a length. Hoihoma was fourth, succeeded by Lucidus. Eager Rose gave nothing a chance in the straight and won easily by two and a-half lengths from Merry Damon, who defeated Jalldy Karo by a length and a-half. United and Merry Lap wero still together in front at the top, closely followed by Pelting and Transaction, who were abreast ahead of Currajong and Valpai, with Bugle Call last. There was little between United, Merry Lap, Pelting and Transaction entering the. straight, with Currajong, Valnai and Bugle Call coming on the outside. Pelting was in charge half-way down the straight and stayed on to score by a neck from the fastfinishing Buglo Call. Transaction was two lengths away third and Currajong was fourth.
