CROQUET CONTROL
ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS Officers elected for the ensuing year to the executive of the New Zealand Croquet, Council at the delegates' meeting at Lower Hutt are as follows:
President, Captain F. Hartnell; vice presidents, Mrs. A. Crawford and Mrs A. E. Oswald; hon. secretary, Mr. A. G F. Ross; hon. treasurer, Mrs. H. Rhodes Williams; official i-eferee, Mrs. W. E Caldow; official handicapper, Mrs. C Watkins.
Unanimous approval was accorded the motion, " That the English Croquet Association be requested to insist that all associations, clubs, and residents o£ the Dominion that affiliate with it shall also affiliate with the New Zealand Croquet Council, unless the New Zealand Croquet Council agrees to waive this formality."
Provision was made for the officers of the council to consist of two vice-presi-dents instead of one. Any two of the offices could be combined, with the exception of president and vice-president and hon. secretary and hon. treasurer. After some discussion it was decided, on the casting vote of the president, that nominations for the council should be forwarded thirty days before the annual meeting, and that the secretary should issue a copy of the nominations at least twenty-one clays before the annual meeting.
Alterations to a rule which would make possible the formation of a North Auckland Croquet District, and a Wanganui Croquet District, were agreed to, and the council executive was empowered to make the necessary adjustments. It was decided to transfer the county of Clutha from the Southland to the Otago Croquet District.
The close of the council's year for financial and other purposes was fixed at November 30 instead of at December 31 as at present. A further rule added to the Constitution provided that any club situated at such a distance from the association headquarters of a croquet district that no benefits could be obtained from affiliation with such association in addition to those obtained from affiliation with the council direct, might make application through its District Association to the council for permission to affiliate with the council direct. Such clubs would be grouped together and treated as a separate association for tho purpose of electing a delegate to the council.
