POWER BOARD'S AFFAIRS
OPERATIONS IN FRANKLIN DIRECT LINE TO WAIUKU [froji our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Tuesday The question of a reduction in staff salaries was discussed in committee by the Franklin Power Board to-day. It was decided to defer the matter meanwhile in the Lope that the Government's plans for economic adjustment would soon be announced in full.
The engineer, Mr. L. G. Sharp, and the secretary, Mr. S. P. Day, were authorised to proceed as finance permitted with the completion of the direct line between Pukekohe and Waiuku and also to arrange for the distribution of the load more evenly on the two main lines from Bombay to Pukekohe. It was explained that loss of power between Bombay and Pukekohe and Pukekohe and Waiuku would be reduced by these two factors, giving a better service.
