TROUT-FISHING SEASON
SUCCESSES ON TONGARIRO MANY LIMIT CATCHES [by telegraph OWN correspondent] TURANGI, Tuesday After more unsettled weather, to-day broke fine and clear, making fishing conditions much more pleasant than they have been since the holiday season began. Anglers are now enjoying some very good fishing and it is estimated that over 200 fish were taken at the Tongariro mouths yesterday, there being many limit bags. In tho Dreadnought pool two anglers took twelve and seven fish respectively, all of which were fresh run and in excellent condition, the largest being a ten-pounder. The fish taken at the mouths were in good condition, one angler's catch including two ten-pounds fish. It is significant that tho bulk of tho fish taken at the mouths were forward hen fish, and it is therefore apparent that they are congregating for a run upstream. Already various anglers report some good results from the Hut, Boat, Log, Gun and Stump pools. One angler took sevon fish in an hour and a-half from tho liut pool this morning.
