OIL CONCESSION

CANCELLATION REMAINS BRITISH PROCEDURE CRITICISED LONDON, Dec. 28 In an exclusive interview with , the British United Press at Teheran, the Persian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Khan Foroughi, rei£erated that Britain's intervention prevented an amicable revision of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company's concession agreement. Persia is still willing to discuss the matter at Teheran, the only possible venue. Meanwhile the Minister has refused to withdraw the cancellation of the " idiotic transaction made under extremely onesided and unfavourable conditions." He says there is 110 ill-will, prejudico nor unfriendliness to Britain. The suggestion that. Soviet, American or other interests are behind the action are merely baseless endeavours to poison world opinion.

Britain, by invoking Article XV. of the Covenant, the Minister states, brought the controversy into tho category of disputes which might lead to diplomatic rupture. Ho regarded this as an instance of Britain's unfriendly attitude toward Persia, who appreciated the company's pioneering work but wanted a due share of the profits.
