CONTROL OF AVIATION
SERVICES IN AUSTRALIA CABINET ADOPTS PROPOSALS C ANBERRA, Dec. 5 The Cabinet has decided to adopt the recommendations of the Air Services and Communications Committee that Australia should control the air service from Darwin to Singapore. The Cabinet also adopted the report on air mail services within Australia. The committee's repoit contained a number of recommendations for the governing of flying in Australia,. It advised tho immediate calling of tenders for four mail services, .namely, Darjvin to Singapore, Darwin to Cootamundra (which would distribute mails for Sydney and Melbourne), Catherine to Perth, via the north-west coast, and Melbourne to llobart. The committee stated that an Australian service to Singapore would not involve so much expenditure as contributing to an Imperial air mail service. Dec. 5 The Morning Post congratulates the Commonwealth on tlie promptness with which it lias pushed ahead the air link connecting Port Darwin and Singapore under wholly British control. There can be no doubt as to its importance as a step in Imperial organisation.
