SLOOPS LEAVE FOR GULF
- SOUTHERN CRUISES LATER The war sloops Veronica and Laburnum left for the Hauraki Gulf yesterday morning to carry out gunnery practice. They will bo assisted by the naval trawler Wakakura, which left towing the small target. The Veronica will return to port on Friday and two days later she will leave on a prolonged cruise to southern ports. The Laburnum will remain in the gulf a week longer than the Veronica and will return on December 16. She will leave on a cruise to southern ports on January 16. TAURANOA ARRANGEMENTS VISIT OF THE VERONICA [from our own correspondent] TAURANGA, Monday A programme has been arranged for the entertainment of the officers and company of H.M.S. Veronica during her visit to Taurauga next week. Cricket and shooting matches against local teams will be held, as well as tennis and bowling. Motor drives to the country and to the Hot Lakes are included in tho programme.
