HELP FOR UNEMPLOYED

BOOT REPAIRING DEPOT PROVISION DURING HOLIDAYS Relief workers employed in country camps and who will be returning to Auckland for the Christmas and New Year holiday period, will have an opportunity of having their working boots repaired at the depot in Hobson Street., as the men engaged there have volunteered to work throughout the holidays to meet the convenience of the country workers. Most of the men who have been working in the relief camps have been supplied with heavy boots from the depot of the Metropolitan Relief Committee, but have not had the opportunity open to city relief workers, of having their footwear repaired at a nominal charge. The generous offer of the relief workers ut the depot, who work as boot repairers at relief rates of pay, will enable the country workers to make use of the depot at the small charge made. The boot repairers are entitled to the two weeks' holiday at Christmas time at their regular rate of pay, in accordance with the arrangement made by the Unemployment Board, but it has been decided that if 'they work during that period they will be given equivalent time off later.
