ACTIVITIES OF ORDERS DISTRICT LODGE FORMED INSTALLATION CEREMONIES Alberta Lodge, No. 53, 1.0.0. F., continues to make good progress. Increased interest is being taken in ritual work, as is instanced by the fact that the degrees nro now being conferred regularly by (he degree team belonging to the lodge. A ritual competition is to be held next meeting, at which no fewer than five of the brothers will compete for the piivilege of wearing the presentation collar awarded to (he winner of the event. The International Order of Good Templars held a district degree meeting last Tuesday in the United llall Lodge Room. Bro. Moore, district deputy, announced that the subordinate lodges of the Auckland district had approved of the formation of a district lodge. Bro. Grand Secretary, said the Grand Chief lemplar and Grand Lodge Executive had great pleasure in granting the necessary charter. Bro. Price then took control of the meetin(j rind duly instituted the Auckland District Lodge, No. 3. lie congr.-Julated the members upon the step they had wished them every success. Bros. lace, G S J W , E Ilodgkinson, G.S.E.W., Srs. Hodgk nson, S.D.J.T., and Bro. Chaddcrton L.D. (Roskill) also spoke, conveying greetings and best wishes. Ihe office! s elected were as follows District Chief Templar, Bro. Moore; District Counsellor, Bro Chadderton; District-Vice lemplai, Sis Mrs. Moore; District Superintendent, Juvenile Work, Bro. Pace; District Superintendent Educational Work, Bro. b. Aidern; District Superintendent Legislative Work, Bro. J. Critchley; P.D.C.T., Bro. Ilodgkinson; District Secretary, Sis. Cant; District Treasurer, Sis. Jamieson; District Chaplain, Sis. Williams, senr. District Marshal, Bro. Jamieson. These officers form the executive. Other officers appointed were;— District Deputy Marshal, Sis. N. Cannon;. District Assist-ant-Secretary, Bro. J. Chadderton; District Messenger, Sis. Mrs. Pace; District Guard Bro. Cavana; District Sentinel, Bro. E. Chadderton; District Organist Sis. \r>-s Wentworth; Marine Deputy, Bro. Ilodgkinson. The installation was ably conducted by Sis. Ilodgkinson, 5.D.1.1., assisted by Bro. Price.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Dominion Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., was held last Tuesday evening m the Lodge Hall, Carmen Avenue, Dominion Road. 'I he noble grand, Bio. Stubbing, presided over a large attendance of members. After the business was dealt with, the lodge was closed and supper was served. A tenor solo was given by Bro. Jellard and dancing brought an enjoyable social hour to a close.
The Mvrtle Rebekah Lodge, No. 4, J 0.0. F.,' held its fortnightly meeting in the 1.0.0. F. Hall, Pitt Street, on Thursday evening, the N.G., Sis. R. Wilson, presiding over a good attendance. The essential business was quickly despatched and the boys of the Alpha Juvenile Lodge No. 1. were conducted into the lodge room. The evening was then spent in various games and competitions. During supper Bro. Massam, on behalf of the boys, th,-inked the sisters for the very enjoyable evening they provided eacit year. Sis. Wilson, N.G., responded. After supper the prizes were presented to the winners of the Various competitions. The Temple of the Kings, No. 48, 1.0. G.T., has hat! a busy time at its last two meetings. Six new members have been initiated and visits have been received from Bro. Price, grand secretary (Wellington), "Bro. Pace, G.S.J.W., Bro. liodgkinson, G.S.E.W.. and Sis. Hodgkinson, superintendent of Young Endeavour Temple. Tke members enjoyed themselves at the close of the business with a mock court and games. There was a large attendance of members and visitors at the Epsom Lodge, No 83. 1.0.0.F, on Tuesday evening. The noble grand, Bro. N. Whale, presided. The chief business of the evening was the discussion of the suggested formation of an Epsom Rebekah Lodge. A lengthy report was received from the appointed committee, and it was finally decided to obtain more information before the next meeting. It is fully expected that the Rebekah Lodge will be formed in this district before the close of the year, and most of the male members have intimated their willingness to assist.
The officers and members of the Loyal Manukau Lodge, No. 7479, M.U.1.0.0.P., held its annual reunion and installation of officers last week. The installation of officers proved to be something unique, as an open ceremony was held. The fol lowing officers were installed: —N.G., Sis. F.-Ballard; V.G., Bro. Foster; E.S., Sis. J. Ballard: 1.P.N.G., Sis. D. Nicholson. The honours of the order were duly conferred on the visitors. After the installation ceremony the remainder of the evening was-passed in dancing and cards. The Pride of Roskill Lodge. No. 91, met last week at Three Kings, Sis. N. Cannon presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors. The combined picnic for January 2 was discussed, and certain recommendations made to the district executive. When the business had been dealt with a "mail bag" night was held, a number of greetings and communications being received, some from as far afield as Holland and Scotland.
