LATE MR. C. RHODES
CITY COUNCIL TRIBUTE
Reference to tlie death of Mr. Charles Rhodes was made by the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, at the meeting of the City Council last evening. Mr. Hutchison said that Mr. Rhodes had played a very prominent part in tlio business and community affairs of Auckland, and it was fitting that the council should send to his family an expression of sympathy and regret at his death. The motion was carried in silence.

Reference to the death of Mr. Charles Rhodes, New Zealand director of the Waihi Gold Mining Company, was made at the monthly meeting of the. Waihi Borough Council last evening. The Mayor, Mr. W. M. Walinutt, in moving a vote of condolence with the family of the late Mr. Rhodes, said Mr. Rhodes' name had been prominently before townspeople because of his association with the Waihi mine, irrespective of the many other interests with which lie was concerned. The association of Mr. Rhodes with the Waihi mine had commenced in 1900, and tlio company had since become one of tho greatest gold producers in the world. The vote of condolence was carried in silence, those present standing as a mark of respect.
