FATAL HEAD INJURY
BOY'S DEATH AT NAPIER STRUCK BY SPORTS HAMMER [by telegraph—press association] NAPIER, Friday The boy Gavin Stuart , aged 14, who -,va« struck on the side of the head by a. hammer which had been thrown in the wrong direction by an'athlete who was practising on McLean Park at the conclusion of the Napier Athletic Club's meeting on Wednesday evening, died this morning. The boy was sitting on a fence with a companion, and received the direct force of the hammer. Ho was removed to hospital suffering from concussion. Ihe othejf boy received a blow from the chain of the hammer and soon recovered.
