TOURNEY AT PAPAKURA SEVERAL BOUTS DECIDED [by telegraph—own correspondent] PAPAKURA, Sunday The Papakura Boxing Club staged its second tournament in the Regent Theatre, Papakura. Inst evening, before a targe gathering. Mr. IT. McLean was referee, and tiic timekeeper was itr. W. Luke. During the evening tho patron, Mr. G. Storey, thanked tho largo audience for its support and also the officials of the Northern Hdiing Association for their assistance. A midget bout between two very email boys, tho Peapell brothers, was greatly amusing, anil ) a shower of pennies showed the crowd's appreciation. Results were as follows: A. Burgess (Papakura) beat Donovan (Auckland) by" a knock-out io the first round; J. McConnell (Papakura) beat Allen (Auckland) on points; A. Jones (Papakura) beat Hutter (Auckland) by a knock-out in the second, round; Ross (Papakura) beat McCoy (Auckland), on points-, A. Burges* (Papakura) beat Quinlan (Auckland) on points. This was a very fast and hard-hit-ting bout, the best of the evening. Burgesn was tho aggressor all .through. He dropped his man in the first and second rounds aiid fought hard with both hands right through. Lindsay (Papakura) and Dale (Auckland). This was tho special bout of the evening, but early in tho first round Dale injured hia ankle and had to retire. Weaver (Auckland) beat Watkins (Papakura) on points; S. Allen (Auckland) beat E. Jones (Papakura) on points, after a good, even fight: Neale (Auckland) beat Shadbolt (Auckland) on points; G. Hill (Auckland) beat C. Norman (Papakura) on points. An exhibition bout was staged between Tommy Mclnnea and Neule. Soloman (Auckland) beat G. Robinson (Papakura) on points; McKinnou (Auckland) beat Holland (Papakura) on points; Collister (Auckland), beat Buckeridge (Papakura) on points; McCullough (Auckland) beat Smith (Papakura) by a, knock-out in the second round.
