Mr. W. L. Richards, of Rotorua, has been appointed a coroner. Mr. and Mrs. G. Niccol, of Auckland, ' will leave for Sydney by the Mariposa to-day. Mr. V. J. Larner returned to Auckland yesterday morning after a short business visit to Wellington. Mr. N. S. Falla, of Wellington, has received the exequatur of the King empowering him to act as consul for Japan. ' Lieutenant-Colonel C. R. Spragg has had his period of command of the Waikato Mounted Rifles extended until October next year. Mr. G. Gore, president of the New Zea- yirland Lawn Tennis Association, who has been visiting Auckland, returned to Wellington by train last evening. The Hon. C. J. Carrington, M.L.C., and Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., whio arrived in Auckland on Saturday morn- , ing, returned to Wellington last evening. Mr. Justice Reed, who has been attending a meeting of the Prisons Board in Auckland, left last evening for Wanganni, where he will preside over a sitting of the Supreme Court. Mr. S. W. M. Stilling, representative in New Zealand for _ tbe_ Australian National Association, arrived in Auckland on Saturday. He will leave again for Wellington this evening. Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, secretary of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, who has been visiting the Royal Show at Palmerston North, returned to Auckland yesterday morning. Mr. W. J. Jordan, Mr. M. J. Savage, Mr A. S. Richards, Mr. F. W. Schramm, Mr'J. A. Lee, Mr. A. J. Stall worthy and Mr. W. W. Mar.sey, M.P.'s, arrived from Wellington on Saturday morning. Mr. F. G. Treweck, of Auckland, assist-ant-registrar of the New Zealand Institute of Certified Secretaries, is visiting Christchurch, where he will spend six weeks in the organisation of a chapter of tho institute. Dr. L. T. Buxton, administrator of St. Patrick's Cathedral, left for Wellington last evening. He will be present at the opening of a new wing at Holy Cross College, Mosgiel, next Sunday, and is not expected to return to Auckland for two weeks. Mr. H. Gladstone Hill, organising-direc-tor of the forthcoming Young Australia League tour of New Zealand, is at present in Auckland. He is to confer with Mr. E. R. Marie, deputy-director of the league, who is a through passenger to Sydney by the Mariposa. Mr J. W. Mawson, director of town planning, arrived from Wellington cn Saturday for the purpose of making a round of informal visits to local authorities in the Auckland metropolitan area. Air Mawson, who is at the Grand Hotel, will leave for the South to-morrow evening- '
